Mandatory Conditions

  • To be eligible for an Open Remote Pilot Certificate under this regulation, an individual must meet the specified requirements, which are:
  • The applicant must be at least 18 years old.
  • Obtain a security clearance.
  • The applicant must be able to read, speak, write, and understand the English language. If the applicant is unable to meet one of these requirements due to a medical condition, the General Authority of Civil Aviation may impose operational limitations on the applicant’s certificate to ensure the safe operation of the small unmanned aircraft.
  • The applicant must not know or have any reason to know that they have a physical or mental condition that would interfere with the safe operation of the small unmanned aircraft.
  • The applicant must demonstrate their knowledge of aviation by meeting one of the following conditions:- Successfully completing and passing all the theoretical components of the open-category training course, including any theoretical knowledge tests, in accordance with the standards accepted by the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) and provided by an organization accredited by the authority.- Holding an unmanned aircraft operation license issued by a contracting state to the International Civil Aviation Convention, and accepted by the president.

Required Documents

  • Proof that the applicant has passed an aeronautical knowledge test that covers the basic aeronautical knowledge examination.
  • A certificate issued by a training organization approved by the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), confirming that the applicant has successfully completed all theoretical components of the Open Category training course, including theoretical examinations, in accordance with standards accepted by GACA.
  • A Remote Pilot Certificate issued by a state that is a signatory to the Convention on International Civil Aviation and accepted by the President.
